Deep Cove Big Band, located in North Vancouver, B.C. have since the ’80s, entertained the Vancouver area with an enthusiastic approach, now led by bandleader Casey Thomas-Burns. We play a mix of Big Band classics and newer material – always with a tempting finger-snapping swing.
An event with Deep Cove Big Band is fun and casual – but also inspiring. We want you to feel like a part of the performance – we are not much without an audience.

The Deep Cove Big Band has a unique sound that is sure to engage with audiences of all ages. Their performance at Parkgate Society’s Community Day event was no exception. MacLean Park Music is a summer community music program, organized by volunteers in Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood. For the past four summers, we’ve been presenting free music in Strathcona’s MacLean Park featuring multiple performances at each event. This year, one of our events included three groups, each from a different musical tradition, but each with the mandate of encouraging the audience to get up and dance. The closing set was by the Deep Cove Big Band, the largest group of performers that we’ve had at an event.Quite a few audience members spoke to me during and after the set – all were impressed with the polished performance and the professionalism of the band. And people danced! We were very happy that the Deep Cove Big Band was able to join us for this event.
